Collins Class Submarine Chilled Water System PLC Upgrade

Collins Class Submarine Chilled Water System PLC Upgrade

The Chilled Water System onboard the Collins Class Submarine is a critical system, cooling various compartments and equipment onboard. The heat is removed from the chilled water system to the fresh water cooling system via the Freon system.

SAGE Automation specialist engineers have worked in collaboration with ASC to replace the Programmable Logical Control (PLC) system for the Chilled Water System.

The works included the electrical and functional design specifications, safety hazard analysis, PLC and Human Machine Interface (HMI) coding, manufacture of the system, functional, Electro Magnetic Interference / Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMI/EMC) and Factory Acceptance testing, as well as detailed system documentation.

SAGE will shortly deliver the PLC system to ASC for fitment to the Collins Class Submarine.
